'Gardens' Short Story Contest

Contest Rules:

1. Please email your submission to thesoupmailbox@gmail.com by 3rd Nov 2022 by 12 am IST. In the subject line of the email, please mention ‘fiction contest entry.’

2. Only one submission per person is allowed.

3. Submissions must not exceed 3500 words, excluding the title.

4. Submissions should be sent as Word Documents, in Arial font, size 12.

5. We are currently accepting stories written in English only. Illustrated entries and entries in other languages (unless translated) will not be accepted.

6. Please mention if you are okay with being published with your real name or require a pseudonym.

7. Participants should be 18 years of age and above.

8. The first three winning entries will be published on the ‘Fiction’ section of The Soup in the months following the announcement of winners.

9. Only unpublished stories are accepted, anything previously published on a website, print magazine, social media, or anthology will not be considered with the exception of a personal blog or website.

10. The contest is open to Indian residents only.

11. The winning entry will receive an amount of Rs 5000 from The Soup.

12. Please do not mail any entries to the editor or judge’s personal account as it will be disqualified.

13. The author of the winning entry retains all rights to their story and are free to submit it anywhere after three months of the story’s publication on The Soup.

14. All submissions will be reviewed by a professional author whose judgement is final and biding.
