Soup is an independent publication based in India. We are an archive of opinions, observations, photo essays and stories documenting current Indian culture. These stories are based on overlooked details, personal histories, collective memory and meticulous research.
Choosing not to overwhelm our readers with information, we publish very few, but very carefully put together stories in a bi-yearly schedule.
The idea is not to pull you in, but to stay with you.
who makes soup?
Meera Ganapathi started The Soup Magazine in February 2016 to create a comforting corner on the Internet and share stories that had not been told before.

We invite submissions only twice every year with an announcement on our social media platforms. To submit pitches, please email ‘thesoupmailbox@gmail.com’. Please note, that despite our best intentions we are usually unable to answer all your queries and pitches except for accepted submissions as we are a small team struggling with the volume of emails. That being said, we always look forward to hearing from you.
